Why Quitting Might Be the Smartest Thing You Do This Year

Inspired by Steven Bartlett's Quitting Framework

If I had seen Steven Bartlett’s quitting framework years ago, I would have walked out of my job a lot sooner

Instead, I spent years grinding away in a role that drained me—mentally, emotionally, and creatively. It was a dead end, and deep down, I knew it. But like so many of us, I stayed. I rationalised, compromised, and delayed. And in doing so, I lost time—precious time that I could have spent building something that truly lit me up.

That’s why I’m sharing this with you today.

As Steven Bartlett puts it, “Quitting is for winners.”
It’s a provocative idea—but one that makes so much sense when you look at it closely.

We’ve been taught to equate quitting with failure. To keep going no matter what. But that mindset can become a trap, especially in midlife, when the opportunity cost of sticking with something unfulfilling becomes painfully high.

You don’t have time to waste.
You don’t owe your younger self a lifetime of loyalty to a decision made years ago.
And you certainly don’t owe society your silence or your slow self-erasure.

The Power of a Framework

What I love about Bartlett’s quitting framework is that it’s concise, decisive, and powerful. It cuts through the emotional fog that keeps us stuck and replaces it with clarity. You don’t need a ten-year plan. You need a truth check.

This tool helps you assess:

  • Whether the thing you’re clinging to is truly serving you

  • If the cost of staying outweighs the fear of leaving

  • And most importantly, whether you're ready to trade comfort for growth

Because quitting isn’t about giving up—it’s about clearing the space for what’s next.

Midlife Reinvention Starts Here

If you’re in a phase of rethinking your life, your career, or your priorities, this framework is essential. It's not about making reckless decisions—it's about making informed, intentional ones. Ones that lead you toward the life you still have time to build.

Download the free PDF version of the quitting framework below—it’s the exact tool I wish I’d had when I was weighing up whether to leave my old job behind. Maybe it’s exactly what you need today.
